The therapeutic counseling process can vary depending on your therapist, so it’s natural to want to know more about me and my style. I understand and appreciate that counseling can be challenging. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t incorporate humor and lightheartedness into the process. This approach can help clients uncover the joy and humor in their lives that their current struggles might obscure.
Family, laughter, and growing in my faith bring me the greatest joy. I love to travel, exploring new destinations and revisiting cherished places. I adore dogs and am an avid lover of the great outdoors. I enjoy doing anything outside, from reading a book in the open air to more active pursuits such as biking, paddle boarding, and disc golf.
I’ve navigated numerous career transitions due to frequent relocations while my husband served in the military for over 20 years. Initially, I saw these moves as obstacles to my professional growth. However, I’ve come to appreciate them as opportunities to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds nationwide. These experiences have heightened my self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses and also played a pivotal role in shaping my journey toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.
My work involves helping men and women dealing with past traumatic experiences, coping challenges, relationship issues, communication problems, anxiety, self-esteem, and more. I’m also trained as a Clinical Trauma Specialist, equipped to treat trauma symptoms effectively.
I’m a Christian, and I can offer counseling from that perspective, but it’s not mandatory. I’ve worked with clients from different backgrounds and beliefs. The connection between the counselor and client is crucial in the counseling process. Counseling can be challenging, so feeling comfortable with your therapist is important.
